New effort to win EU acceptance for genetically modified crops
Irish scientists look to biotech potato to ward off blight
Scientists at Teagasc, Ireland's agriculture and food development authority, hope to develop a biotech potato that could tolerate blight. The plan is aimed at addressing a "highly aggressive strain" of the fungal disease that was found in the country's eastern counties last year, a Teagasc officer said.
